Redefining the Air Travel Experience with Rapid and Modern Solutions

personal project  /  Product Design

Airgent reimagines air travel by combining advanced technology with user-focused design. Developed as a visionary study project, it simplifies the journey, ensuring comfort and ease from booking to boarding.

the problem

Traditional air travel often leads to delays, impacting busy professionals and individuals with critical commitments.

Delays in traditional air travel disrupt schedules and create stress, especially for professionals managing tight timelines and individuals relying on punctuality for medical or personal appointments. Airgent addresses these challenges by prioritizing efficiency and reliability, ensuring travelers can meet their obligations without unnecessary delays.

Market Research

To inform the design of my app, I analyzed the main screens of flight apps and search engines like Airbnb and TripAdvisor to gain insights into user preferences. Recognizing the pivotal role of the search engine in my app, I drew inspiration from these platforms to ensure a user-friendly and efficient design.

Pain points

pain point #1

External Ticket Purchases

In flight aggregator apps, users are often redirected to external websites to complete ticket purchases. This process can disrupt the user experience, creating additional friction and reducing the sense of trust and convenience that users expect from a seamless booking journey.
pain point #2

Limited Customization

The lack of sufficient customization options makes it difficult for users to filter and tailor search results to match their specific preferences, hindering a personalized and efficient experience.

Conclusions

Conclusion #1

Customization for Diverse Target Audiences with Specific Accessibility Needs

Tailoring to three distinct target audiences with specific accessibility needs is crucial. This includes individuals with medical emergencies needing swift travel, business travelers requiring urgent flights, and leisure travelers seeking quick options.
Conclusion #2

Enabling Direct Ticket Purchases Within the Application for Streamlined Booking

The in-app ticketing feature allows users to purchase tickets directly within the application, eliminating the need for redirects to external sites.
Conclusion #3

Diverse Travel Solutions

The sorting feature for "Limited Flight Hours" is conveniently accessible directly from the homepage, ensuring users can easily refine their search criteria based on this specific parameter.

User Research

I engaged with three individuals from each target audience group to better understand their challenges and requirements. This feedback loop allows me to adapt the app’s design to ensure it effectively addresses user needs. While the app is a visionary concept, insights gained through direct interaction with potential users help assess its practical value and usability in real-world scenarios.

Pain Points

pain point #1

Personalization and Tailored Preferences

Users are looking for an app that can remember and adapt to their preferences, offering a personalized experience with each interaction. This level of customization ensures the app feels intuitive and relevant, enhancing user satisfaction.
pain point #2

Inefficient and Complex Booking Workflow

Users have highlighted frustration with the complexity of the booking process, pointing to the need for a more streamlined and user-friendly interface. Simplifying this workflow through clearer navigation and fewer steps will improve the overall user experience and reduce friction.

Conclusions

Conclusion #1

Addressing the Variety of User Travel Needs

Users have a range of travel needs, including business, medical, and leisure purposes, underscoring the importance of an app that can cater to diverse preferences and requirements. By focusing on flexibility and inclusivity, we can ensure the app meets the needs of every user segment.
Conclusion #2

Enabling Personalized User Journeys

To address the need for a more personalized approach, I’ve introduced an onboarding process where users can specify their flight preferences. This information is stored and used to customize future interactions, providing a frictionless experience for returning users and reducing the need for repetitive input.
Conclusion #3

Simplifying the Booking Process and Information Access

To address the complexity of the booking process, I’ve improved the user flow, ensuring that all travel information, such as e-tickets, booking confirmations, and receipts, is easily accessible under the 'Your Travels' tab, providing quicker and more convenient access.4o mini
